I am one of your customers and believe that it was an article of yours that I am referring to.

Prior to Christmas I read an article on what to not feed dogs over the festive period - I am convinced that this information has saved my dog's life. I read that pork and turkey build up toxins: I have given Sophie a slice of ham, containing her medication, every morning for approx four years.

With her advancing age, various ailments and skin lesions, she was a very poorly old lady - gutsy and strong willed, but nevertheless in a condition that an understanding vet, in consultation with myself, took the decision to let nature take it's course.

This happening just prior to Christmas - I stopped the ham and replaced the commercial chew sticks with apple and banana, and gave masses of love and attention - and waited for the inevitable.
Well, I am still waiting,

She has gone from strength to strength, appetite improved, skin in great condition, glossy coat, gained strength in voice and body muscle and actually wants to out for her walks again - and can walk for 20 - 30 minutes - slowly with lots of stops for sniffs but with such an enthusiasm for being out.
I thank you for your knowledge - and for sharing it.

With love and blessings,

Pat Sutton - and a healthier Sophie

Russ the Jack Russel (1)
Russ the Jack Russel

Once again many thanks for your help.  I hope this will help anyone else who may have the same problem.

2 years ago in March my 2 dogs went into kennels for 5 days, when I collected them the kennel smelt really high and I thought that they had not given my Husky her medication for her Pancreas problem.

When I got home that evening I noticed it was my Jack Russell who now had a problem, his toilet was very loose and yellow in colour and smelt awful.  I took him to the vets and they said it was a bowel infection he picked up in the kennels.  So was treated with Flagyl for 10 days and put on a prescription diet food.  I went back after 10 days as he was not better, so then the vet tried different antibiotics, again after 10 days he was no better.  Then another medication, this went on until Oct, then the vet did a blood test and said he has a pancreas problem like my other dog, I asked if it was catching, they said no.  So at this point he is on medication the same as my other dog,  ‘Kreon’ capsules.  His toilet became a bit better but still very yellow and smelly.

Then 6 months later he got really bad again and he was very poorly and quiet.  Now the vet started trying other medications and this did not help, he also did x-rays but his stomach was ok, but full of wind.  So the vet tried a medication for wind before meals, this made no difference and he was still no better.  I then asked another vet for a second opinion and even they could not find a problem.  So I went back to my 1st vets and said he has not been wormed, they said you can not worm him because of his pancreas problem.  Then in October 2010 my vet gave him a cortisone injection to stop the loose toilet, it worked so they put him on cortisone tabs.  December 2010 my vet left the practice.  So I found another vet, told them all about it and they said it was food intolerance, so they took a blood test, sent it to Valencia and it came back nothing wrong with his pancreas, kidneys or liver.  He was ok there.  So we start again on different food and weaned him off tabs over 6 weeks, all was going well, but his afternoon toilet was still not good.  So he was put back on cortisone, then in March I spoke to Louise about food for him to have and we talked at great lengths eventually she told me about another client with same problem and her dog had a protozoa worm in the gut.  So after Louise’s advice and guidance I decided to try Panacur worming tabs, after 3 days his toilet was good all day, so I weaned him off the cortisone and decided to worm him my self, after 2 years of him being so ill it was such a relief to have finally found the cause of the problem.  Since then I have found a really good vet and she has said it IS a worm and we wormed him every 2 weeks and now though at the moment it is every 6 weeks.  So he is now on no medication, he eats a natural food which has helped him in his recovery, it is Luaths Chicken which our Husky thrives on as she has pancreas problems and now our Russ is much happier.  Life is finally normal again.

I have written this in hope this will help anyone out there recognize something we have been through, because I would hate someone to go through what Russ and I have gone through for 2 years.  Because he picked this up in kennels I have now found a nice older couple who look after our dogs when we have to go away.  I just could not trust going to kennels again.

Thanks once again Louise

All the best, Francine

Skin Problems (1)
Skin Problems
With the help of Louise and George at Land of Holistic Pets I've been feeding my Old English Sheepdog on the Robbies for 9-10 months now and have noticed an improvement in her skin condition, she doesn't itch like she use to and is now growing a coat that is so good I now have to groom more regulary. She's looking like an Old English Sheepdog at last!

Robbies is a dehydrated brown rice and chicken food that you soak in warm water for 10 minutes before feeding. She really likes it. I've not had any upset tummies since feeding her this.

Thanks for all your help
Carolyn
